The Education Justice team is a driving force in the movement for equitable, honest, and fully funded public education across Kent County. Locally, we empower students, caregivers, educators, and staff to hold school districts accountable, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of our communities are met.
On a broader scale, we collaborate with the Michigan Education Justice Coalition to advocate for state-wide policies and funding that foster safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environments. Our work is grounded in the belief that a just, multiracial democracy begins with an education system that serves all.

As a proud member of the Michigan Education Justice Coalition (MEJC), we join a statewide network of students, parents, educators, and community members dedicated to transforming public education. Together, we advocate for equitable funding, culturally relevant curricula, and policies that ensure all students have access to safe, inclusive, and well-resourced schools. Through collective organizing and grassroots action, MEJC works to dismantle systemic barriers and create an education system where every student can thrive.
The SALT (Student Association for Leadership and Transformation) program empowers high school students to become leaders and advocates for educational justice within their schools and communities. Through mentorship, training, and hands-on organizing experience, SALT equips students with the tools they need to address inequities and drive positive change in the education system.
