“Where there is oppression, there will be resistance.” - Assata Shakur
In this moment and always, we hold space to be in our bodies—to tend to the collective grief, collective rage, AND collective courage that resides within. As we pause to feel and center ourselves, we make room to revisit the beliefs and values that have carried and guided us through every season.
Our dedication to embodying an ethic of refusal and disruption persists beyond election cycles. At every level—within our communities, in our city, our county, throughout our state, and beyond—our commitment remains resolute. We are driven by the profound truth that our fates are intertwined, and we hold a shared responsibility for making that truth known.
As we navigate the “bigness” of the political landscape we live in and the real-life implications therein, we’re reminded of a core principle offered to us by adrienne maree brown, which says, “Small is good, small is all. (The large is a reflection of the small.)” In these words, we find an invitation to shape the world we long for on the largest scale by beginning with ourselves, our families, our neighborhoods, our workplaces—all of the places and spaces we inhabit.
We are a POWERFUL people. Lessons from our lineages remind us that freedom is forged through struggle and that we, through studying together, sharing alternative visions, and standing in solidarity, shape the present and future. We do not seek permission to build a world where each of us is valued and where power is equitably distributed; instead, we ask that you journey with us to examine what this moment requires of us, individually and collectively. If you’re looking for a home—a space to learn, a space to practice community care, a space for celebration, a space to take collective action for the sake of our freedom—we extend an open invitation. We are, and have always been, worth loving and fighting for!
May you, may we, rest, refuel, resist #onrepeat
